Partner, SRI Ventures

Ryan Lewis is a Partner at SRI Ventures, where he invests in early-stage companies focused on deep tech such as artificial intelligence. He also prioritizes companies developing dual use technologies to service both private and public sector applications. He serves on the board or has invested in Midday, PassioAI, Pienso, GoCharlie, Zephr, NUVIEW, and Kurve. He also serves as an advisory board member to Yurts, Unstructured, and MetroStar Systems. He is the Co-Chair of the Defense Technology Council for the Global Corporate Venture (GCV) organization. He has spoken frequently on the topics of emerging technology and national security including a variety forums including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Commission on artificial intelligence (AI) Competitiveness, Inclusion, and Innovation.

Prior to joining SRI Ventures, Ryan was the Senior Practice Manager of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Amazon Web Services (AWS) National Security, where he led technical teams delivering a wide array of AI products and services to U.S. national security organizations. Before he joined AWS, Ryan was Senior Vice President and Director at In-Q-Tel (IQT), where he founded and led an applied research lab focused developing and open sourcing AI algorithms and associated software. He also co-founded SpaceNet LLC, a nonprofit managed by IQT dedicated to building and releasing satellite remote sensing datasets, algorithms and data science challenges. He began his career as a technical consultant for Computer Sciences Corporation servicing primarily U.S. national security organizations.

Ryan holds a bachelor’s degree from Truman State University, where graduated valedictorian, a master’s degree from the University of Maryland School of Public Policy, where he was named a Memorial Fellow, and graduate certificate from the MIT Sloan School of Management. He is currently a Senior Associate (Non-Resident) at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) with the International Security Program (ISP), an Industry Liaison for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS), and a DeepTech Mentor for New York University’s (NYU) Endless Frontier Labs (EFL).
