Commander (Ret.) Michael Kuypers

Director, Readiness for SOF Transition (R4ST), Naval Special Warfare Command

Mr. Kuypers has served with Naval Special Warfare since 2008 in both an active duty and government civilian capacity. He currently serves as the Director of Readiness for SOF Transition for Naval Special Warfare Command, a specialized program across Naval Special Warfare that assists NSW personnel and their families in making successful transitions to veteran life.

A graduate of the United States Naval Academy (1991), Mr. Kuypers served as an active-duty Naval Officer for 23 years before retiring in 2013 and transitioning to government service. 

In his most recent assignment from 2013 to 2018, Mr. Kuypers served as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Naval Special Warfare Group One, where he helped institute the Naval Special Warfare Performance Continuum, a comprehensive and holistic methodology for maximizing human performance over the life of a special operations career.

Mr. Kuypers holds multiple degrees and certifications and is a board-certified executive coach. His passion for learning, mentoring, and developing the best in others has led him to serve in his current role as well as with several non-profit organizations that seek to inspire others.
