Major General (Ret.) Jaime Iniguez
Jaime Íñiguez was born in Burgos in 1959; he received the rank of Lieutenant (Infantry) in 1981 and finished his active-duty career as Major General in June 2019. He has devoted more than half of his 38 years’ service to Special Operations Units, in all ranks except Major.
In September 2014, the Spanish Joint Special Operations Command (Mando Conjunto de Operaciones Especiales: MCOE) was created and he was designated its Commander, position he held until June 2019, end of his active-duty career.
He has also served in the Parachutists’ Brigade, in the Rapid Action Force, in the NATO Special Operations Coordination Centre (later called NATO SOF HQ and today Allied SOF COM), in the Spanish Joint Operations Command, and in in the NATO Rapid Deployment Corps (Greece).
He has been stationed in Central America (1990) as military observer of United Nations; in Bosnia Herzegovina (1996) and Kosovo (2000), part of NATO forces; and in Afghanistan (2010) as Director of the Special Operations Forces Fusion Cell (SOFFC) of the Coalition.
In 2021 he has been appointed as NATO Senior Mentor (SOF).
He is the author of the book “Spanish Special Operations Stories”.
