Colonel Andrew R. Morgan
Colonel Andrew “Drew” Morgan is a SOF Warrior, physician, and astronaut. He is a graduate of the US Military Academy at West Point and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. COL Morgan is a rated master flight surgeon, special operations diving medical officer, and a board-certified emergency medicine physician with sub-specialty certification in primary care sports medicine. Drew has served throughout USSOCOM and deployed to multiple combat theaters. His SOF experience includes assignments in 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) as a battalion surgeon as well as various medical roles in two special mission units.
In 2013 NASA selected Drew as part of the 21st class of NASA astronauts. He completed his initial qualification and staff utilization before flying his first spaceflight to the International Space Station from July 2019 through April 2020. During his 9 months in space, COL Morgan performed seven spacewalks, an American record in a single spaceflight. He recently completed seven years as the Army’s senior astronaut and NASA Detachment Commander. He is the graduate of multiple SOF-related training and qualification courses and the recipient of several Army, Joint, and NASA awards. In June 2023, Drew will assume command of US Army Garrison Kwajalein Atoll in the Republic of the Marshall Islands.
