CAPTAIN (Ret.) John Burnham

Former DASD for Threat Reduction & Arms Control, Accenture Federal Services

John Burnham serves as Strategy and Mission Command Integration lead the National Security portfolio of Accenture Federal Services, serving clients across the U.S. Special Operations and Intelligence Communities.

Before joining Accenture in 2017 he was a naval officer serving in Naval Special Warfare for 28 years at tactical, operational and command levels, deploying around the world.  After retiring from active duty in 2014 he was appointed Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense and served for three years in the Obama administration.  

His military assignments included two deployments as a Surface Warfare Officer onboard USS MARVIN SHIELDS (FF-1066); tactical and operational leadership tours at SEAL Team TWO, Naval Special Warfare Development Group, and Joint Special Operations Command; command of SEAL Team FOUR; numerous deployments in command of Joint Special Operations Task Forces in Afghanistan, Iraq, and other locations; and command of the Joint Interagency Task Force-National Capital Region.

Mr. Burnham is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, holds an MBA from the College of William & Mary, and is a Distinguished Graduate of the National War College.  He and his family live in Arlington, Virginia.
